Another one down

Yay! I just finished my first draft of a new book, currently titled, Diary of a Lady's Maid, though that could change. Hooray! There are few things as satisfying for me as completing a first draft. It's a short one, only 40,000 words (goose girl final version was 91,000 words). It'll grow in rewrites, but I think this book should be shorter. I won't say much about it right now. I hate talkikng too much about books before they're all done. I spoke with my editor today, and she's looking at October 2007 publication. Of course, she hasn't read it yet. No one has. Who knows what people will think?

I need to start in on more rewrites for rapunzel's revenge next week, then after we deliver that I'll do another rewrite on diary, then Dean will read it, I'll do another draft, my editor will read it, I'll do a few more drafts, and on and on for the rest of the year, I imagine. But hey, first draft's done! Wahoo!

Current first line: "My lady and I are being shut up in a tower for seven years."
