The evolution of a ditty

The sequel to princess academy also has snippets of songs and chants and such at the beginning of each chapter. Each time I create a new chapter or split a longish one into two, I have to write a new one. It's not a bad way to pass an afternoon, really. Such writing scares me sometimes, but often it's a lot of fun.

Just found an earlier version of the first song in princess academy. Here it is, a second version, and the final.

The east says it’s dawn
My mouth speaks a yawn
My tired eyes are sore and stinging
I hear a work song
Say winter is long
So to the quarry I go singing

The east says it’s dawn
My mouth speaks a yawn
My bed clings to me and begs me to stay
I hear a work song
Say winter is long
So I rise, dress, and, singing, meet the day

The east says it’s dawn
My mouth speaks a yawn
My bed clings to me and begs me to stay
I hear a work song
Say winter is long
I peel myself up and then make away

Remember, my character name auction goes up tomorrow and ends Tuesday. What a great Christmas present for someone! And the money goes to a great cause. You can also bid to have your name in a book by Brandon Mull, Janette Rallison, Robin Brande, Kiersten White, or Becca Fitzpatrick. Wow!
